Elizabeth reconnected with her childhood passion for drawing and painting long past when the chance was available to be considered ‘young and emerging’, or to graduate from one of the prestigious art schools.
Since leaving the work pressures of the land, she now has the time to seek out teachers of repute and/or of international standing, such as Elisabeth Cummings, Fu Hong, Clayton Beck III, Mervyn Moriarty, Shane Pickett, Lucja Ray, Peter Griffen, Jenie Fawckner and others. A workshop of realism in oils with Jenie Fawckner has been a real turning point in depicting landscape. Alternatively working in cold wax techniques with Kym Barrett and Cheryl McGannon is a wonderful escape into abstraction. Together with countless hours studying the masters in many galleries, they have broadened her experience, her technique, and her understanding of art. |

Life is now a constant journey to capture and expand on the essence of her memories and experiences, using canvas, board or paper and all mediums. Elizabeth enjoys most being free to express her thoughts at the time, be they pictorial or abstract, using whichever medium lends itself to the current idea, whatever happens to be at hand, or a mixture of many. Only photographs which she has taken herself are used as inspiration or a reference point.
Western Queensland is where she grew up, spent most of her married life, and where her heart remains in spite of being ‘retired’ to the Sunshine Coast hinterland, to the north of Brisbane, Australia. The bush stays closely connected through having been a member of the “Six Artists From Out Of Nowhere”. These were a group of friends from the Maranoa region of Queensland who exhibited regularly in Brisbane and regional Queensland, and once also in Italy.
Elizabeth’s work, which was once described as ‘collectable’ by an art-show judge connected with the Queensland Art Gallery; has achieved awards through very limited exposure, and she has sold over 150 works which can be found in some public, and many private collections, both locally and worldwide. She considers the highlight of her achievements so far to be the sale at auction of a commissioned work for AU$10,000, the proceeds of which all went to the ‘Make a Wish’ Foundation.
